On the 18th December 2018, a number of our clients joined in the celebrations hosted by a not for profit CALD organisation - Chinese Nurse Association Australia Melbourne.

 

The event attracted 150 attendants from other social groups and within the local community with the event held in conjunction with JAPARA's new Residential Aged Care Facility within Glen Waverley. The staff at the facility provided a tour of the 5 star JAPARA The Highbury and spent time introducing their new facilities and providing insight into the Aged Care sector.

 

At 10:00am, the event festivities commenced with a number of Traditional Dance performances prepared. The dancers were all dressed in brightly coloured costumes and danced swiftly across the hall floor. The attendants all appreciated the performances and wore bright smiles on their faces.

 

Following, we had a small group of our senior clients perform a dance with tambourines. With the average age of the group being 85 years old, it was a joy to many to see them so actively participate in the celebrations.

 

The staff at JAPARA kindly prepared delicious refreshments for all to enjoy. We would like to extend our heartful thanks for the warm welcome and preparations that JAPARA put in to host our group.

Taking advantage of the Festive reunion of Chinese Lunar New Year, TSC Home and Community Care invited our dear Chinese CALD clients to join a local Chinese Senior Social Group called LaoLaiLe to attend their 16th February 2018 Spring Tea Party.

Our Case Managers and internal staff members are very familiar with the client’s care needs, interests and life situations but these clients rarely have the chance to connect and meet with one another. Through this event, many of the clients had the chance to connect with one another as well as with others within the community in order to build more social networks and encourage them to be more active and socially connected within their local community.

In addition – at this gathering, our valuable clients - Mr C and Ms Z shared their thoughts and feelings on why they chose TSC as their Home Care Provider. They sincerely thanked TSC and our staff members for catering to their needs and for caring for them as if they were our own family. Many listened to their sincere reflection which gave them an understanding of how the Home Care Package can be beneficial in allowing the senior community to age well within their homes.

The warm smiles on the faces of our clients are the overall goal of our service. TSC aims to protect and empower these clients and we hope we have the privilege of connecting them to more social gatherings within the community.
